Ciao!

I started studying the law when I was sixteen during my A Levels, and knew fairly quickly it was an area I wanted to pursue.

I started my degree in 2016, and within my first month secured my first role in a personal injury law firm. It was my job to take personal injury claims and issue these to our solicitors. I stayed there for two years, in the meantime securing mini-pupillage experience at Oriel Chambers, a magistrate shadowing scheme in Liverpool Magistrates Court, and volunteered at the Citizens Advice Bureau.

I then secured my first paralegal role, which I worked at full-time over the summer, and for part-time alongside my final year of studies. We specialised in criminal and family law, and I still look back on this role with the fondest memories. It taught me so much, and my bosses were the best. I was offered a training contract, but I knew deep down a solicitor wasn't the route for me.

So instead, I graduated Liverpool University in 2019 with a qualifying first class LLB law degree, and decided to move to Rome, Italy! 🍕

I was an au pair to a little Italian girl, whose parents were both criminals lawyers (or should we say, avvocati criminale) and they even let me attend court with them which was amazing. I then trained to become an English teacher, and started my own virtual business over in Italy. Covid hit, and I was stuck in Italy, so I had nothing to do but make my business flourish, and catch the self-employment bug!

I returned home and secured a paralegal role in a family firm, and specialised in issuing non-molestation orders, occupation orders and child arrangement orders. This role taught me so much, but the self-employment itch hadn't left me since my time in Italy. 

​

I was then offered an investigative officer role within the police, which I took as I love trying new things, and love anything murder mystery coded. The reality for me however was quite different, but I'm grateful the role I took wasn't right for me, because that's what gave me the kick to start JAM. I had nothing to lose, and here we are!

The whole time I also watched my dad start his own property investment business in Edinburgh when I was small, and watched him grow this to a 20+ residential and commercial property portfolio. I went through a phase as a kid of wanting to be a tiler because I watched so many properties get tiled, and loved it! This experience gave me an invaluable insight into the workings of a property investment business, allowing me to also specialise in support for property developers (the property development, not the tiling, I soon grew out of that!)

I now hold over a decades experience in law, and work along side my Dad in the family property investment business - keeping the admin in check! 

​

I feel so lucky to have been able to start JAM, because I wake up everyday and enjoy what I do. The sunday scaries are no more, and it's an amazing feeling. 

​
